How digital marketing will be relevant to my future career?
Digital marketing will be highly relevant to my future career because I am a marketing communications professional with extensive experience in hospitality, both in the Philippines and Myanmar. With nearly 20 years in the industry, I have developed and implemented strategies and campaigns that integrated social media, online reputation management, digital marketing, creatives, crisis communications, public relations, and people management.
As the marketing landscape continues to evolve, digital marketing serves as a vital tool that aligns with my professional expertise and future goals. It enables data-driven storytelling, audience engagement, and measurable brand growth, skills that are critical in the hospitality industry and beyond. Below is a summary of how my experience supports this relevance:
a) Leadership
As Director of Marketing Communications at Sedona Hotel Yangon, a 797-key hotel in Yangon, Myanmar, I led a team of marketing professionals and artists responsible for creative and digital strategies. My leadership contributed to a consistently positive online reputation for three consecutive years and strengthened the hotel’s brand presence. Similar leadership experience at SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation and the Discovery Leisure Group allowed me to integrate traditional and digital approaches to strengthen brand identity and media visibility.
b) Media and Digital Management
Throughout my career with SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation, the Discovery Leisure Group, and Sedona Hotel Yangon, I have built strong relationships with both traditional and online media, including influencers and digital partners. I have conceptualized and executed hotel campaigns across multiple platforms, monitored digital and media performance using analytics tools, and collaborated with agencies for online reputation tracking.
c) Project and Campaign Management
My role has always involved supporting revenue-generating departments through digital and offline campaigns. From online brand activations to e-marketing initiatives, I have ensured that every campaign contributes to both brand awareness and revenue generation. The integration of digital tools in CSR campaigns, such as the 2018 fundraising project with the Daw Khin Kyi Foundation at Sedona Hotel Yangon, that raised USD 190,000, demonstrated my ability to merge purpose-driven and digital engagement.
d) Communications and Content Development
Creating content that resonates with audiences, both online and offline, has been central to my career. My background in content strategy, digital storytelling, and crisis communications has enhanced brand trust and visibility. Ensuring the accuracy and tone of all external communications aligns perfectly with digital marketing’s emphasis on authenticity and real-time engagement.
e) Asset and Brand Management
Managing both offline and digital assets has given me a deep understanding of brand consistency. I have worked with creative teams and digital suppliers to update marketing materials and ensure all brand assets are aligned with current campaigns.
In addition, I have implemented integrated marketing communications systems, led digital training programs (including photography, videography, and Review Pro analysis), and fostered a team culture of continuous digital learning. These experiences have prepared me to adapt to the fast-evolving digital landscape, ensuring that my future career remains innovative, data-informed, and strategically connected to modern audiences.
