Hosting Provider Selection Rationale

I chose Bluehost as my hosting provider because it offers a good balance of affordability, reliability, and scalability compared to the other options listed on Blackboard  such as HostPapa, OrangeHost, Namecheap, DreamHost, HostGator, and GoDaddy. Bluehost’s pricing for shared hosting plans begins at US $1.99 per month (introductory rate) and renews at approximately US $9.99–15.99 per month, depending on plan duration (TechRadar, 2025; Bluehost, 2025). The service also includes a free domain, SSL certificate, and 24/7 support, which are essential for maintaining a secure and professional website (Bluehost, 2025).

Although some competitors advertise lower introductory rates, many impose significant renewal price increases or offer fewer bundled features. For instance, HostPapa renewal rates range from US $19.43 to US $55.05 per month (HostPapa, 2025), while OrangeHost lists shared hosting at US $39.95 per month (OrangeHost, 2025). DreamHost and Namecheap provide cheaper entry plans—around US $2.59 and US $1.98 per month, respectively, but often with limited performance or shorter promotional terms (DreamHost, 2025; Namecheap, 2025). Meanwhile, HostGator offers starting plans around US $3.75 per month, and GoDaddy’s WordPress hosting begins at approximately CAD $5.49 per month (HostGator, 2025; GoDaddy, 2025).

Beyond competitive pricing, Bluehost’s advantage lies in its official recommendation by WordPress.org, ensuring smooth integration, consistent uptime, and robust support for content management (WordPress.org, 2025). These features make it especially suitable for a digital marketing and hospitality-focused website that requires reliability and scalability. Overall, Bluehost provides the best long-term value, balancing transparent pricing, strong technical support, and growth-friendly tools compared to its peers.
